Where are your translators from?
At Lingo24 we have a policy of using only native speakers of the languages that we provide our services for. The reason for this is that only native speakers are able to render authentic translations that are technically perfect in not only grammar and syntax but also colloquisms and other localised usage.
This is not, of course to denigrate, non native linguists, but ask yourself one question; if you came across someone from another country; even if they were very learned, had no accent and spoke perfectly grammatically; would you be able to tell that they were not from Britain? Of course, the answer would almost certainly be yes. The giveaway would be in the little peculiarities of our language and the natural word order of such peculiarities; the things that make a linguistic rendition perfectly authentic and thus, convey a message in a naturally localised manner.
As an example, one might be tempted to transliterate a “yours sincerely” ending in a letter to an African addressee; in certain parts of Africa, however, a localised ending of “I hope that this letter will make you strong” would be more appropriate. Likewise, English terms such as ‘swings and roundabouts’, ‘raining cats and dogs’, or ‘so be it’, are usually only familiar to native English speakers, but more importantly, the correct context for their usage and the word order of the terms are likewise usually only well known to natives.
Our translators themselves are, as you might imagine, located in almost every country and we have a network of some 800 translators worldwide. We do, however, have a permanent core of translators right here in the UK and these translators are mostly to be found in London. Our London translators are generally specialists in several professional fields such as Legal, Financial and Medical translations and they enable us to offer many City of London corporations a local London translator that can be called upon at short notice.
Although, as mentioned, the bulk of our Translators are in London, that does not mean that we are neglecting the rest of the country; we have several regional and Scottish offices countrywide which offer the same sort of ‘localised’ service as our London translators do.
Wherever you happen to be in the country, and whatever your translation requirement, you can be sure that we will have a local interpreter near you, ready to offer you a technically perfect service of the very highest quality and at the very keenest prices…call us for a chat, to see what we can do for you today.
